Jakarta Govt Issues Location Determination for Ciliwung Normalization Project

Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung stated that the Jakarta Provincial Government has issued a location determination (penlok) for the Ciliwung River normalization project. According to him, Ciliwung River is the main contributor for flooding problems in the capital.

Pramono hopes that Ministry of Public Works will soon issue a letter regarding this normalization. With support from the Ministry of Public Works and the Ministry of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/National Land Agency (ATR/BPN), the Cililitan River normalization project can commence promptly.

He affirmed that the Jakarta Government is committed to earnestly addressing the city's flooding issues.

"This means that the normalization of Ciliwung River can be proceed, and hopefully, the letter from Ministry of Public Works will be issued soon. ATR will also assist," he conveyed.

Jakarta Water Resources (SDA) Sub-agency Acting Head (Plt), Ika Agustin Ningrum, explained that location determination has been issued for three areas, namely Pengadegan, Cawang, and Cililitan, out of eleven planned segments.

The city, he added, has allocated a budget of approximately Rp 98 billion for Ciliwung River normalization project this year.

"For Ciliwung River, this year's budget is approximately Rp 98 billion," he asserted.

Nevertheless, discussions on increasing budget allocations in the Revised City Budget 2025 are currently underway with the City Council (DPRD).

"We may add more and the first progress we will implement is in the Pengadegan segment," he mentioned.

Ika stated that the assignment letter from Ministry of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/National Land Agency (ATR/BPN) has been issued. It is targeted that land acquisition payments for the Pengadegan segment will be carried out by the end of June.

"At least, by the end of June, payments for Pengadegan segment have been made," she said.
